Professor of Economic History at the London School of Economics (United Kingdom). A fellow of the International Macroeconomics and Economic History programs of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (London) and the Macroeconomics Program of CESifo (Munich), he is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Federal Ministry of Commerce. His main area of research is the Great Depression of the inter-war years, focusing on the German debt default and U.S. monetary and labor policies.
