Alicia Troncoso is President of the Asociación Española para la Inteligencia Artificial (AEPIA) and a Professor and Head of the Data Science and Big Data Lab at Pablo de Olavide University. She has conducted pioneering research in machine learning, Big Data and deep learning, with a particular interest in time series forecasting, of application in diverse fields including energy, agriculture and the environment. Author of over 100 scientific papers, she heads the Master’s Program in Computer Science at Pablo de Olavide University, where she also served as Vice-Rector for Information Technology and Digital Innovation between 2017 and 2020. Troncoso has been recognized on several occasions for her work in support of women in science. In 2024 she was distinguished in the Aritmel category of the National Computer Science Awards bestowed by the Sociedad Científica Informática de España and the BBVA Foundation.
