Cees Midden is Professor Emeritus of Human-Technology Interaction in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences at Eindhoven University of Technology. Before joining the faculty at Eindhoven, he was a senior researcher at the National Laboratories for Energy Research, specializing in behavior change strategies to promote energy conservation. His research interests lie in the social and cognitive factors of human-technology interactions as manifest in the use of products and systems, as well as in persuasive communication, social influence, risk perception and technology acceptance. Author of several books and over 100 papers in scientific journals on environmental consumer behavior, the perception and communication of technological risks and the adoption of innovations, he is also the founder of the International Conference on Persuasive Technology held annually since 2006.
