Director of the Maternal, Child and Reproductive Health Initiative and Research Professor at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal).
Her research interest lies in maternal health issues, from malaria during pregnancy to the prevention of HIV and sexually transmitted diseases in mothers and infants.
She has authored more than 200 published papers and supervised the PhD theses of European and African students. A malaria control consultant for the World Health Organization, her honors include the R. Geigy Foundation Award.
