Music Director of the Britten-Pears Foundation, Founder and Executive Producer of NMC Recordings, and Executive Administrator of the Holst Foundation. He is co-director of the Aldeburgh Composition Course, and composition director of the London Symphony Orchestra’s Panufnik Scheme.
Prince Consort Professor of Composition at the Royal College of Music, as a composer his music has ranged from solo piano music through five string quartets to orchestral works.
He was associate composer with the London Symphony Orchestra and is currently Composer Emeritus of Manchester’s Hallé Orchestra.
