Gore Hunger Professor of Environmental Science at the University of Tennessee (United States), where he is also Director of the Institute for Biological Invasions. His areas of research include invasion biology, community composition and structure, and the ways in which species vary morphologically depending on which other species are present. Holder of an Eminent Ecologist Award from the Ecological Society of America and a past president of the American Society of Naturalists, he has also served on the main board of the National Science Foundation.
