Director of the Paris School of Economics and Director of Studies at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (France). His research deals mainly with income redistribution in the developing nd developed countries. A former chief economist and senior vice-president of the World Bank, he sits on the Scientific Committee of the United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research, the Council of Economic Advisors of the French Prime Minister and the Executive Committee of the European Development Network.
