Professor of Ecology in the Department of Evolutionary Biology and Environmental Studies at the University of Zurich (Switzerland), and Director of its Specialized Master on Environmental Sciences. His research combines mathematical models, simulations and data set analyses to address fundamental and applied questions. Author of landmark papers in journals like Nature and Science and a former member of the latter’s Board of Reviewing Editors, his distinctions include the European Young Investigator Award and the Ecological Society of America’s Mercer Award.
