Jorge Fernández del Valle is Professor of Social Psychology at the University of Oviedo, where he leads the Child and Family Research Group. A specialist in topics ranging from evaluation of child and family services programs to quality and standards in residential child care, foster care, social support networks assessment, and transition to adulthood from care, he has developed a series of transfer products for the social services sector, including SERAR (Sistema de Evaluación y Registro en Acogimiento Residencial), applied in nine of Spain’s autonomous communities. Author of over 140 publications, including a number of books and articles in high-impact scientific journals, he serves on the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA) of the Spanish university system, and on the steering committee of the European Scientific Association on Residential and Family Care (EuSARF), and coordinates the International Working Group on Therapeutic Residential Care.
