Research Professor in the Aula Dei Experimental Center, CSIC (Spain), his main areas of work include plant enhancement for the purpose of obtaining more sustainable varieties, the conservation of phytogenic resources, and the development of crop-growing techniques for a more sustainable agriculture. He has served as area coordinator for CSIC, Director of the Aula Dei Experimental Station and General Director of the Instituto Aragonés de Medio Ambiente, and is a past Minister for Agriculture and the Environment with the Aragón Regional Government.
