José Manuel Sánchez Ron is a Professor of History of Science at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain). Elected to the Real Academia Española in 2003, he has served as Vice-Director of its Governing Board since 2015. He has over 400 publications to his name, including the books Marie Curie y su tiempo, El jardín de Newton, Albert Einstein: su vida, su obra y su mundo and El país de los sueños perdidos. Historia de la ciencia en España, the first comprehensive account of the history of Spanish science. In 2015, he received Spain’s National Essay Prize for “El mundo después de la revolución. La física de la segunda mitad del siglo XX.” As well as directing the publishing house Crítica’s “Drakontos” collection of essays and science writing, he has edited works by scientists like Albert Einstein, Galileo Galilei, James Clerk Maxwell, Charles Darwin or Blas Cabrera. He is also a member of the Académie Internationale d’Histoire des Sciences and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
