A former CSIC Research Professor at the Severo Ochoa Molecular Biology Center (Spain). He holds a PhD in Biochemistry from Ohio State University and in Chemistry from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He has made major contributions to the understanding of protein biosynthesis in the bacteria E. coli and the mechanisms of antibiotics. Previously visiting professor at the universities of Harvard and Cambridge.
