Associate Professor of Musicology at Université Paris Diderot and co-founder of contemporary music magazine Entretemps, he has also worked as a producer for radio broadcaster France Musique. From 2007 to 2008, he was an advisor at the Berlin Institute for Advanced Study (WIKO) and in 2008–2010 taught at the University of Poitiers and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. Translator of Giuseppe Mazzini, Carl Dahlhaus and Helmut Lachenmann, he has authored books and numerous articles on the music and musical aesthetics of the 19th and 20th centuries.
