Holder of a PhD in music history from the Sapienza University of Rome, he is currently a lecturer in the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya in Israel.
His areas of interest include 19th-century Italian opera, music and media, sociology of music, and the music of the Jews in the Mediterranean Basin.
He has worked as chief editor, consultant and advisor for labels like Deutsche Grammophon, Philips and BMG, and was head of music and cultural programs at Italian public broadcaster Radio 3–RAI. Music critic on the Italian version of The Huffington Post.
