Director of the Institute of Microengineering at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Switzerland), where he heads the Sensors, Actuators and Microsystems Laboratory. He is also Vice-President of the Swiss research and development company CSEM SA. His research focuses on the design, micro fabrication and application of diverse types of silicon-based electronic devices. Awarded the Junichi Nishizawa Medal of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers for his contributions to developing new technological devices.
