Nuria Marbà Bordalba is a Research Professor at the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (IMEDEA), a joint center of the University of the Balearic Islands and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), where she heads the Department of Oceanography and Global Change and the Global Change Research Group. Her work focuses on the function of macrophyte-dominated marine ecosystems and the services they provide, mostly related to climate change mitigation and adaptation; the response of coastal ecosystems to stress (with particular attention to nonlinear responses and tipping points); and the scientific basis for defining marine ecosystem conservation policies. She has participated in national, international and Balearic research projects on marine ecology, biodiversity and conservation in temperate, tropical and polar coastal zones. An associate editor of Frontiers in Global Change and the Future Ocean, she has also served on the editorial boards of Limnology and Oceanography and Aquatic Botany, among other publications.
