Óscar Marín is Professor of Neuroscience at King’s College London, where he also heads the Centre for Developmental Neurobiology and the Medical Research Council (MRC) Centre for Neurodevelopmental Disorders. His research aims at an understanding of the development of the cerebral cortex and the biological bases of neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism and schizophrenia. A member of various editorial boards, he currently sits on the Board of Reviewing Editors of Science, and was among the founding members of the the Scientific Council of the European Research Council. Elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2022, his other distinctions include the 2024 FENS-EJN Award (bestowed by the European Federation of Neuroscience Societies and the European Journal of Neuroscience), the 2023 European College of Neuropsychopharmacology Award in Basic Science Research, and the Ramón y Cajal Medal of the Spanish Royal Academy of Sciences.
