Professor of Ecology at the University of Florida (United States). His research focuses on theoretical and conceptual issues in ecological organization, and on the task of linking ecology with evolutionary biology. He is also interested in bringing modern ecological theory to bear on applied problems in conservation biology, and has carried out large-scale experiments on habitat fragmentation. He collaborates on a regular basis with a wide range of institutions.
