Emeritus Professor of Musicology at the University of Karlsruhe (Germany), his main fields of professional and research interest are contemporary music and music theory, music analysis and sound art. An expert on contemporary creators of the likes of Karlheinz Stockhausen, Giannis Xenakis, Pierre Henry, François Bayle and Wolfgang Rihm, he has shared his insights on their works as a contributor to numerous radio programs and in an extensive published output focusing on the composers of the 20th and 21st centuries.
