Sandrine Bony is Director of Research with the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), working in the Study and Modeling of Climate Change Group at the Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique (LMD) of Sorbonne University (Paris). Her main research interests are the role of clouds in climate and the response of the climate system to human activity. In the World Climate Research Programme, she co-leads the Grand Challenge on Clouds, Circulation and Climate Sensitivity, as well as serving on the Global Atmospheric System Studies panel. She was a lead author of the Fourth Assessment Report for which the IPCC received the 2007 Nobel Prize, and is a former editor of the Journal of Climate and the Bulletin of the American Meteorological System. Among other distinctions, she is an elected member of both the French Academy of Science and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and holds the Buys Ballot Medal of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences.
