Stephen Mumford is Professor of Metaphysics at Durham University and a professor in the School of Economics and Business of the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. After earning a PhD from the University of Leeds, he taught at the University of Nottingham from 1995 to 2016, serving as Head of the Department of Philosophy, Head of the School of Humanities and Dean of the Faculty of Arts. His book titles include Russell on Metaphysics, Watching Sport: Aesthetics, Ethics and Emotion, and Getting Causes from Powers. He is currently completing the book Causation in Science: On the Methods of Scientific Discovery (with Rani Lill Anjum), while pursuing a project on the metaphysics of nothingness and absence, under a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship, which will result in a book to be called Nothing Really Matters.
